Whales

Whales have smooth rubber skin that helps them to glide through the water. Whales are warm-blooded so they are warm in the cold water. Whales have a layer of hair. Whales are mostly kept warm by their bladder and a layer of fat. Whales are never cold because they have so much to keep them warm.

A whale can live off its bladder for a long time which is good if they can’t find food to eat so 6they can live of their bladder until they find some food to eat. Whales eat squids, other fish and krill. Whales live in lots of seas like tropical seas, ice polar, oceans, edge of the ice Arctic park and shore water.

Some whale eat little for 8 months while migrating or breeding. Whale find each when they are lost by making high pitch noises that help them to find each other. Whale swim in groups and in their groups they have different high pitch sound they make.

Whale swim by flapping their tails fin from side to side. Whale come up from the water every 5-15 minutes to breath and blow water out there air

science report

Question:

Does he strength of the paper depend on its size?

Aim- what are you trying to find out:

We want to find out is the strength of the paper depends on its size?

What are going to change in your experiment?:

The size of the paper.

What are you going to measure or observe?:

The amount it can hold.

Hypothesis:

We think that A5 will be the weakest because it’s the smallest.

Materials:

Paper A3, A4 A5 and tape.

Method:

  1. Stick the A3 to the table.
  2. Place weights in the centre of the paper.
  3. Keep on placing weights until it breaks.
  4. Repeat those steps for A4 and A5 paper.

Results:

Conclusion:

Out of our 3 hypothesis 1 was correct. It was the A4 paper with the answer of 4Kg. If we did the experiment again, we would use stronger tape and we would  3 layers of tape.

*Grace accidentally dropped the weight on the paper*

Reflection:

The highlights of our experiment were we liked when the weights dropped on the paper because it was fascinating and interesting. We also liked when we were placing the weights on the papers because, it was existing to watch how much weights the different papers could hold. The last highlight was meet the scientist because it was fun to tell people what our experiment was about.

The challenges were to get the layers of tape correct because, it was confusing to get the right amount of layers on each paper and we didn’t want the tape to effect the experiment. The other challenge was to think about what we were going to change in the experiment because it was confusing on what we were going to change. To solve the challenge with the tape we, we decided to put three layers of tape on each paper. To solve the challenge of what we are going to change in the experiment we got help from our teacher and we compromised about the answer.

The things that we learned from the experiment were, paper strength does not always relate to its size. We also learned on how to conduct a fair test by putting on the same tape layers on Each paper. The last thing we learned was to write a scientific report.

The book of the year winner

The books that we focused on work Florette, Mopoke, A Walk In The Bush, The Great Rabbit Chase, Ten Pound Pom and Swan Lake.

Walk In A Bush won because it had great illustrations and a great storyline.

Walk In A Bush was not my because I liked Florette because do you likes gardens and I likes Gardens to. you also cared about her garden in a lot of different way and made new friends when she had to leave her old friends

Temperature

This week we have been temperature.

We have used thermometers to measure temperatures of liquids, explored air temperatures and Fahrenheit  and Celsius.

Using the Bureau of Meterology website we explored the temperatures of Australia’s states. Here is what we found:

I would most like to live in Darwin because it’s warm.

Where would you like to live?

About me

I am absent with dancing l dance at school and at home, for my birthday my mum and dad let me do dancing lessons on Thursday and my friend does it with me. I play basketball. I have dyslexia so when we do literacy I go with someone but there are gather people that go to.

At school I love art so does my friend Taylor and she is amazing l also love literacy because I read a lot at the moment I am reading the bad guys and art let’s all my imagination out. I also like maths even though I am not good at it I still love it.

Out side of school I love to play basketball my twin sister plays basketball to and my big sister couches her. My mum plays to on Monday. My twin sisters name is Natasha but everyone calls her tash and my big sister name is Megan but everyone calls her meg.

The best part about year 4 is art because I have all ready leaned a lots and I think l have in proved this year I love art and we got a new teacher and she is amazing.l wish she was here forever.

The thing l am most excited about blogging is learning more about people l don’t know much about so the blog helps me do that even if they are not in my class and people that are in China.

What is your favourite thing about year 4 and why?
